Yeah and he was quite cute *G* but we had to queue up for hours Oh, I so envy you. Me stupid could have met him, too perhaps. He was in Freiburg for "Wetten dass?". But I wasn't a fan then yet (LOTR yes, but not Lij). He seems to be such a nice person. I was at a fan forum once. I founded the "brunettes with accent"-club there.

When seeing LOTR (they show the trilogy every saturday for three weeks here) I kinda miss the time it was hype around them. It was so much fun and I got loads of memories! I went to the TTT premiere in the old local cinema here and I was the FIRST one into the teather I never forget that Me and my two friends got seats on the next last row, but it was soooo cosy! There we sat with a theater full of LOTR fans through the night I went to the ROTK premiere in the same town, but on the new local cinema. There's like 8 small ... what do you call the rooms they show the movies? Anyway there were showing the movie at the same time in 5 of them... lol. It was stuffed full at the cinema in the middle of the night! So much fun! I went with the same friends as I did with the previous and we had a LOTR day - like 12 hours with LOTR, we saw the two first movies home with pizza and candy! Never forget that!!! And before the TTT premiere there were a ticket-line waiting outside the biggest cinema in Oslo and they made a Hobbit town in the nearby park. They had horses there, two hobbit houses, tents, a tent where they played the games and a horse with carriage. Sooooo fun!! Ohhh! And they had bow and arrow shooting there and I did and so did my bestfriend. It was SOOO much fun!! I got to shoot many times - the target was a thing on a tent and I hit right on twice! The other times I either hit the tent or far over I never forget this trilogy!! I still can't believe Orlando is Legolas. lol. I miss him as the elf. I don't hate him in real - It's hard to because he seem like a sweetheart, but I don't think he has been too clever with his choice of movies after LOTR (Except Pirates of course). Many of his characters is like heroes and much the same. Thats why I like Garrett - he chooses different characters. No, I will always love Orli as Legolas, but just find him okay otherwise. Don't kill me girls haha. (I love the friendship they made in the trilogy between Legolas and Aragorn! It's not really in the books)

No, but they loose a bit of the freindship between Legolas and Gimli.
I have to say, I was a bit annoyed by all the new Legolas-is-cute-LOTR-fans. Sorry. I don't know, it felt strange. I mean, it's great that so mayn people discovered LOTR. But on the other side it was plain annoying, too. Legolas ahs always been one of my favorites from the book and now he was reduced to "sexy elf". I don't know, it's hard to explain. It's felt like the long-time-fans were trampled down by a stampede. suddenly everyone knwe LOTR and loved it. It's like you knew all around the world was a globe and now suddenly people (who looked down on you before and thought you were mad) agreed with you and it was the trend of the day to say it. Don't know. It's hard to explain.

They could hardly see a photo without going all "he's so hot, he's so cute" etc. Thats what you mean? I agree with you there if it is lol. I also liked Legolas in the books ("I'll go and fetch the sun") and all, where he was actually one of the characters lightening the mood. And with those girls - it was so many of the that if you said you liked, let's say Legolas people would accuse you for being a teenie, when you have liked the character in the book longer and doesn't mean it in a teenie way... lol. Am I totally off track? Btw, what do you say "no" to? lol

Oh. No, like in: You're right, it's not in the books. Sorry. lol
Yeah, that's the girls I was talking about. Study mates of me gave me some kind of card with Legolas on it - they knew I loved the books. A friend of them went totally mad over it and refused to talk with them for some time. Because she thought Legolas is sexy and they should have given her the card.

Not to make this about Garrett, but I think that's how some people feel about Garrett in Eragon, because there was this flood of "Murtagh-is-hot" fangirls when the movie came out. People would claim status because they liked Murtagh before they ever heard of Garrett, and, frankly, I kind of resented that, because it was like saying he was a nobody before, when he was an "up-and-coming," but established and accomplished actor before Eragon. I read Eragon and Eldest and became an Inheritance fan before the movie came out, but it was because my favorite actor in the world was going to be in the movie(s). I'm not ashamed of that. I'm a Garrett fan first. I was annoyed by the fly-by-night Murtagh/Garrett fangirls, too, but the bragging that oh, I didn't like Garrett before, didn't even know he was alive - whatever. I understand what you're saying... but I was kind of in the middle with Murtagh (I can discuss Inheritance beyond Murtagh with the best of them - see my many non-Murtagh posts on IF), and didn't really like how book fans kind of looked down on Garrett fans, and on Garrett himself for bringing new "lesser" fans to the series.
LOTR and Inheritance are different, though. I read Tolkein because they are classics, before there were the movies. Inheritace was, and still is, very new. I don't normally buy books out of Juvenile Fantasy. I did read some HP, but that's different, too... I was told (repeatedly) they were worth reading, not so with Eragon. I dunno....

The Murtagh is hot fangirls annoy me so much. They pretty much made it so you can't defend the character of Murtagh (usually against people who argue that Murtagh is a dirty traitor) without the first thing you get told is that you only like him becuase Garrett is playing him.
Which is how it is a lot of the time with Legolas, he's not my favourite character but I can see how people who do like him would get judged a lot. Just look of fanfiction.net (if you dare to step into the section of mary sues that is the LOTR section) and see how many Legolas/Mary Sue self insert stories there are.

Ever since I read the books I loved Legolas and I even loved him more in the Movie and so since then I'm a big Orlando Fan but I can tell you it's not always nice to be an Orlando fan. I know he has a lot of fangirls, fine, I can't change this and it's definitely not my fault but if you say you like him everybody and I really mean everybody jokes about you and laughs about you and no one really respects that you are a fan. And I consider myself as a fan and not one of those "I just like him because he's cute and I scream whenever I see him" fans. You always have to excuse yourself as an Orlando Fan! I really think he did a great job in LotR. It was his first movie and so I really think he made it! Well however, i have to say there`s not one actor I think was bad in this movie. they all made this movie to something special although the story was already special. LOTR's a masterpiece

I agree with you all. Whenever I had wanted to tell who my favorite characters is I could go like "Eowyn, Pippin..." without anyone thinking much of that, but if Legolas was a part you always had to add "But I was a fan before the movie.... blabla... I'm not a teenie... blabla" it's annoying. It's putting all fans in one hand and every fan is different. It's the same thing about Murtagh, but this is about LOTR. lol. Make another topic if you want to discuss this. lol. It's interesting to see other people thinks the same as you XD But what spoil a real fan of a character is the ones that is still around when the hype has calmed down Well not always, but... you know. lol Anyway I post this here as well. lol. I didn't know norwegian tv channels had humor... lol www.youtube.com/watch?v=Bu-7eCXaro0

Well, the point was to defend serious Orlando fans, not discuss Murtagh. I didn't realize FotR was Orlando's first film! Wow. I guess it makes it a bit different if he didn't have fans coming into LOTR, but still. Anyhoo. The Hobbit town in Oslo sounds cool. It's cool when movie releases are big fun events. I went to see them opening weekend (not night... maybe for TTT, but not the first midnight showing). There were people practically camped out with pillows and stuff in the theater, I don't know if they bought tickets for every showing that day or what (this was only a couple people, not half the theater).

Yes. It's funny how you sometimes are on one "side" or another. With Murtagh/Garrett/Eragon - I'm new there, too. LOTR - I've grown up with this. Johnny Depp is another example: I wouldn't consider myself a fan (that's probably why I see this a lot cooler than LOTR), but it's funny how everyone loves him now but many find it hard to name a movie older than Chocolat. I guess what makes LOTR a bit special, too, is that it's part of something bigger. Liking fantasy, especially as a girl, I have always been considered a bit of a freak (I guess I was lucky that there existed something like a fantasy-subculture where I live). With the movies this made a 180° turn - you would have been considered strange if you didn't like them.
I guess it all breaks down to how you behave and how long you stick around.

Yeah it was really cool. They made that hobbit town because it was so many in lines (more then the theater lol). So LOTR was a huuuuuge thing in Norway - as pretty much everywhere XD For ROTK sadly they wouldn't put up a camp because it was too expensive. But it was a fascinating sight. But for ROTK, Viggo, Bernhard, Andy (Gollum) and a crew member came to the showing of ROTK in a concert hall - two or three days before the actual premiere. That part is even on the EE dvd of ROTK!! Lol I nearly died when I saw they had the Oslo premiere on the dvd XD But two days later (I think) Viggo stayed and came to the midnight premiere in the biggest cinema. Sadly I wasn't there (I odn't like Viggo, but common! lol) I never forgive myself for not going to Oslo on that pre-premiere of the movie! NEVER! I was going, but two friends bailed on me! (There's no smiley sad enough)
